Ocean Publishing Partnership Workshops

The Ocean Publishing Partnership (OPP) is an exciting project that offers you the chance to join writing, poetry and printing workshops.

It’s a collaboration between Kiss & Bite Letterpress, Real Ideas Organisation, Slate Publishing House and the Stonehouse Voice to run a literacy project at Ocean Studios.

You’ll be able to participate in workshops using the unique resources of our two printing presses – a Heidelberg Windmill automatic press and an Albion hand-operated press – and our collection of books soon to be installed in the café area.

The availability of books is crucial for Stonehouse because the district has no public library at a time when literacy levels are of concern in Plymouth.

Our presses will power the writing, poetry and printing classes and opportunities for you to self-publish; and the book collection will allow you to enjoy a book while having a coffee, take it away and return it when you have read it.

We’re also operating a book recycling scheme so you can leave unwanted books with us and we’ll put them to use again.

Opportunities for writing, reading and self-expression are central to all our collaborations with community groups, individuals, and schools. Please get in touch if you would like donate books, help us run the project or participate in any way.

The video below shows Alan Qualtrough working on the restoration of a Heidelberg Windmill platen in the café area. This is one of the presses that will be used in our workshops.
